We, the WordPress community, need to decide if we\u2019re ok being led by a single person who controls everything, and might do things we disagree with, or if we want something else. For a project whose tagline is \u201cDemocratizing publishing\u201d, we\u2019ve been very low on exactly that: democracy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Matt Mullenweg has joked in the past (and in this Inc. article<\/a>, which he responded to here<\/a>) about being a “benevolent dictator for life,” but Joost says the benevolent part is no longer accurate. So he \u2014 and others \u2014 are calling for a new board and a new structure in which the WordPress trademark is owned by the community or is in the public domain.
