According to the Journal story:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re way behind in new media and digital,&#8221; says Chief Executive David Zaslav, who has shaken up Discovery since taking over in January. &#8220;I don&#8217;t think we win just by building vertically.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Although it was a much smaller deal, Discovery acquired Treehugger &#8212; a popular environmental awareness site founded by a Canadian &#8212; in August <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techcrunch.com\/2007\/08\/01\/discovery-acquires-treehuggercom-for-10million\/\">for $10-million<\/a>. As alarm:clock <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thealarmclock.com\/mt\/archives\/2007\/10\/game_ball_goes.html\">notes<\/a>, Discovery was an early leader in using the Web, like a Wikipedia for basic-level science.
