{"id":1193,"date":"2007-04-16T21:57:13","date_gmt":"2007-04-17T01:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mathewingram.com\/work\/2007\/04\/16\/media-execs-fear-user-generated-content\/"},"modified":"2007-04-16T21:57:13","modified_gmt":"2007-04-17T01:57:13","slug":"media-execs-fear-user-generated-content","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mathewingram.com\/work\/2007\/04\/16\/media-execs-fear-user-generated-content\/","title":{"rendered":"Media execs fear user-generated content"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Accenture has a study out that interviewed senior media executives for their views on user-generated content &#8212; or whatever we&#8217;re calling it now &#8212; and found that they are not just taking it seriously, they are <a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.accenture.com\/article_display.cfm?article_id=4534\">outright afraid<\/a> of what it could do to their businesses. &#8220;Media and entertainment executives see the growing ability and eagerness of individuals to create their own content as one of the biggest threats to their business,&#8221; the survey said.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mathewingram.com\/work\/wp-content\/uploads\/snipshot_e4gra02emmx.jpg?w=525\" alt='snipshot_e4gra02emmx.jpg' \/>According to Accenture, more than <strong>half<\/strong> of the survey respondents said the rapid growth of user-generated content is one of the top three challenges they face today. More than <strong>two-thirds<\/strong> said they believe that social media, one of the largest segments of user-generated content, will continue to grow. <strong>Two-thirds<\/strong> said they believe that within three years they will be making money on user-generated content, with most of these saying they expect to make money through advertising and sponsorships.
