Let this high school show you how
Howard Owens of Gatehouse Media recently pointed to a small-town high school — Wayland High in Wayland, Massachusetts — that is doing things with their school newspaper’s website that more big-city papers should do, including smart use of video, blog-style format and great design.
A bunch of 16-year-olds, and they are out-producing many larger newspapers put out by a giant staff. Pretty powerful stuff.

What a fabulous news site! It’s also useful for corporate communications practitioners looking to improve employee communications. I’ll be sharing this with my co-workers.
It’s time we pay more attention to the kids if we want to succeed in online media. At mesh last year, Tara Hunt spurred the most controversy after her keynote presentation. In retrospect, almost a year later those who were quick to judge her are probably eating their words.
Remember, they were on Facebook long before us adults thought it was cool.
