That's interesting, Famaf -- but I don't think it really makes sense any more for a newspaper to look solely at their print circulation for a sign of how their business is going. How does the Independent compare to the Telegraph and the Guardian when it comes to online readership?

Hi Mathew...as far as I'm aware the 10% increase refers to their print circulation. The figures were released earlier this year. As a regular Independent reader and journalist I put it down to a triumph of good quality newspaper-writing. One has to hope that in the face of the plethora of information sources available there will always be a place for journalism of a high standard, delivered through mainstream outlets and open to all.
How would you interpret the figures?

An interesting piece, but how do you square the fact that The Independent has seen its circulation increase by 10% where all other quality newspapers, including the Telegraph and Guardian, have suffered circulation decreases?
